The rundown: The sequel to Every Heart a Doorway follows the twins from the story, Jack and Jill. It is the story behind two of the Wayward Children and the beginning of their story before they entered their world, The Moors.

The review: The sequel was just as good as the first book in the series! The sequel highlights the implications of growing up as a teenager to parents who 1. Did not want children, and 2. They had their ideas of how children should be. Jack and Jill grew up to be versions of themselves they never wanted to be. Envious of one another, the twins grew apart. Until they find, their door to the world of The Moors and their true identity is revealed. The reader follows the twins’ adventures into the new world and their decisions as they encounter new characters and creatures. The sisters’ fates are tied to each other, and they learn how to navigate their new reality until death again enters their world. And they soon have to encounter another journey together-to the boarding house for outsiders.

It goes well with: Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour, and The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow.
