The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna

The rundown: A witch, Mika Moon, is lonely living in Britain. She’s advised to keep her head down and hide her magic to not draw too much attention to herself and other witches. For years, she abides. Until someone slides into her DMs to help teach a group of young witches to contain their powerful yet chaotic magic. Now, Mika has to bend every rule taught to her to help a group of witches and save them and their family's lives.

The review: This heartwarming novel is the perfect summer read. Mika is relatable, even as a witch. Her past trauma affects her relationships with the young witches, the family living with the girls, and her love interest (Jamie) which readers can understand. Mika navigates, moving outside of her comfort zone with imperfections and flaws but gracefully. Mika’s character development is wonderful! And the love tension between her and Jamie heats up more than the summer heat throughout the book! This cozy fantasy book is a MUST-read for the summer!
